Week Twenty-One
(9/21-9/27)
September 22: "Unfinishing" the
finished basement: Joe discovered
that when the basement was
finished, some posts providing
critical support were removed, so
we had to open up the ceiling and
put in some real steel! Water damage
took care of the rest.
Upon opening the walls in the
basement, however, we discover a
new treat: some of the block wall
had been removed and replaced with
a single brick standing on end,
holding up one of the steel support beams.
In the ceiling, you can see the new
steel beam that Joe put in.
Complete demolition of the living room
begins...we're taking it down to the
studs.
This little arched doorway at the front
entrance will be squared off.
They took down the plaster ceiling
in the master bedroom; that would
be a great vault! (Not going to happen).
There's a lot of wiring in the house--
this is the master bath.
